It's one of Australia's favourite gourmet food and wine regions – the Clare and Gilbert Valleys – sitting alongside the sun, sand and seafood of South Australia's Copper Coast. And this year, the two are set to feature in the first ever Wine, Wheels & Whiting cycling weekend.

“South Australia is well known for its gorgeous vineyards, great seafood and strong cycling culture,” joint event organisers, Bike SA, said.

“We've decided to bring all of this together in the Wine, Wheels & Whiting bike ride – where riders can pedal all the way from the Clare Valley to the Copper Coast - and be entertained by a weekend of festivities put on by the locals.”

The ride will take place on Saturday 12 September 2015, the feature of three days of festivities (11-13 September) including a produce market to showcase the region's gourmet fare.

The ride starts in the famous Clare Valley and edges its way 125km along secondary roads to the coastal town of Wallaroo. There are also shorter ride options, including a 70km option departing Snowtown and a 45km ride departing Bute. All follow the same route. There's also be a family ride of 8km along the Wallaroo foreshore.

Entry is open to both Bike SA members and non-members and includes a ride jersey, snacks and drinks, lunch and roadside support. Additional services may be booked, including return bus transfers, accommodation, a special event dinner and rider's breakfast.

Registrations are now open on the Wine, Wheels & Whiting website, and more information is also available on the event Facebook page and city council website.
