It's not too late to jump on board Bike SA's Outback Odyssey bike tour of the Mawson Trail, with a few spots remaining for the May 2015 ride.

The 900km Mawson Trail is a stunning way to see some of Australia's great beauties – the Flinders Ranges and Wilpena Pound – as well as some of our best wine regions north of Adelaide.

The supported tour leaves from Adelaide on May 9 and runs for 16 days up to Blinman, ending on May 24. However, riders can also choose to bike shorter sections of the trail, with three mini options available. These are: Adelaide to Burra (May 9-13); Burra to Melrose (May 13-18) and; Melrose to Blinman (May 18-24).

The Mawson Trail is a challenging ride that makes use of dirt roads and tracks, however it is not a technical trail, so riders with a moderate level of cycling fitness will be able to complete the tour.

The Outback Odyssey is open to Bike SA members as well as non-members for a slightly higher fee. Costs range from $800 to $2,325 depending on the tour chosen

Costs cover transport and luggage transfer between camp sites, camp sites with hot water and flush toilets; breakfast, lunch and dinner, sheltered dining areas with chairs and tables as well as activities and entertainment.

Riders can also choose some additional services, including coach transfer to the start and from the finish line and massage therapy.

Cycling the Mawson Trail is one of South Australia's great adventures, with stunning Outback mountain ranges and quaint small towns. If you're unable to join the tour, or prefer to ride self-supported, you can read our day-by-day account of cycling the Mawson Trail in: Cycling the Mawson Trail slip and slide.
