If you've always dreamed of cycling in the iconic Blue Mountains, but have been a bit turned off by the busy highway that runs through it, check out this week's free Bicycle NSW 'Discovery Ride'.

Following booked-out sessions in Inner Sydney and Parramatta, the new Discovery Rides program now ventures to the Blue Mountains on the outskirts of Sydney, with three free cycling tours.

Taking place on Sunday, September 20, 2015, experienced ride leaders from the local Bicycle User Group (BUG) – CAMWEST – will take groups of cyclists on an easy 10km bike route through Glenbrook and Lapstone.

To offer the free day, Bicycle NSW has teamed up with the Blue Mountains City Council to help bike riders gain confidence and find great routes to cycle in the area.

There will be three sessions on the day with a maximum of 10 riders each:

  • 8:00 am
  • 9:30 am
  • 11:00 am

The rides are free, but participants must book a place through Bicycle NSW. Children above the age of 12 are welcome, but each child must be accompanied by an adult.

For more information, and to reserve a place, please visit the Bicycle NSW Discovery Rides page.

The Route

If you can't make it on the day, but would love to see where the mountain's locals ride so you can make a day of it some other time, you can view the route here.
